ɪs a chat box 🗣 on a website a conversion helper or a conversion killer?
Here’s when I think a live chat box is a helper:
- 👥 when you actually have people to man it Or have an AI driven chat
- 💭 when it doesn’t obstruct important info on the page
- ⏰ when the wait time to get to an agent is within reason (who wants to wait 30 minutes on a chat box?)
- ❓when the Customer can have their purchase questions answered on the spot
Here’s when I believe chat is killing conversions:
- 💁🏻When there’s no one “home” to answer the ring at all times
- 👓 when it overlaps the UI and creates problems to view info or click a CTA
- ✍️ When the business doesn’t make the effort to write back to the client after hours
- 🛑 when you are adding a chat box just ‘cause the competitor has one on their website
